Health First Fitness follows ACSM Guidelines for healthy adults or adults with chronic conditions who have been cleared by their physician for exercise.
Health First Fitness specializes in fitness programs designed to promote general health and well-being. This comprehensive “lifestyle” program consists of aerobic activity, strength training, core training and flexibility training. Training for improved health will help you live better, longer!
If you are overweight and would like to reduce your risk of obesity, we will design a programs to suit your needs. Our weight loss programs are designed to reduce body fat, increase lean muscle mass, and and increase resting metabolism by focusing on aerobic activity and weight training. Be patient with this process… healthy (permanent!) weight loss takes time.
If you already consider yourself to be in great shape, congratulations! Would you like to see more definition in your muscles? Or balance-out your already-fantastic physique? Did you know that strength training can actually change you body’s proportions to create the illusion of smaller hips or a smaller waistline? A well-designed weight training program is the secret!
Did you know that small-framed Asian and Caucasian women are at the greatest risk of osteoporosis? It’s true! Programs for women with (or at risk for) osteoporosis will incorporate weight-bearing activity (weight training) to increase bone density and balance training to reduce the risk of falls that can cause fractures.
If you have recently (or not so recently) completed physical therapy but feel that specific joints or muscles are still lacking in strength and flexibility, we can design a targeted program which will continue to improve strength and range of motion in that particular area of the body.
These programs are offered only as one-to-one sessions.
Hatha yoga (yoga of the physical body) has been used to balance and bring vitality to the human body for over 5000 years. Did you know that Hatha yoga’s primary focus is the spine and the spinal cord? Why? Because all of the body’s functions (moving, breathing, thinking, etc.) are regulated through this complex, electricity-filled channel. If you can improve the health of your spine, the whole of your well-being will improve.
If you have been wanting to try hatha yoga but do not feel comfortable beginning as part of a large group, we can help! Come and build your yoga confidence! To promote ease of movement, this 60-minute session is held in a warm room heated between 85º and 90º.
If you are already practicing Bikram yoga and want more personalized instruction than a group class can provide, we can help! This interactive, 90-minute session is not a substitute for your regular classroom practice but will greatly enhance what you are already doing in the classroom. This yoga session is held in a hot room heated between 100º and 105º.
If you struggle with your eating habits or are confused by nutrition labels and conflicting dietary theories and information, we can help! We provide basic nutritional counciling at no additional charge.
Leslie is first and foremost a teacher. She assesses, applies, affirms and motivates which makes her the consummate trainer. She creates workouts using various tools for an imaginative training regime.
